In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge speaks with Lydia Pierre, the senior director of brand management at Pierre Branding Group.
Pierre Branding Group helps their clients discover who they are in terms of their brand identity. PBG helps create stories that resonate with audiences to forge unforgettable, unique brand experiences. These stories ultimately become infused with all aspects of their clients’ branding.
Having your skillset is important, according to Lydia, but you have to couple that with top notch branding that sets you apart from your competitors. Lydia assures that these strategies can set you above your competition which will position you to charge premium prices for what you do.
Lydia explores how your company looks to your audience – the way you look at people is the same way people look at businesses. Do you look professional and put together? First impressions are everything, so spend the time to really determine how your potential clients truly see you.
Josh and Lydia also explore some of the most common mistakes and red flags in branding. Branding isn’t always tangible, so if you seem too money-driven and transactional, you’ll scare away more clients than not. Be willing to teach your client slowly about your company, mission, brand, and story.
Everything becomes easier when you understand your business’s true purpose and value proposition. Your company can become firm and unshakable even in the face of fierce competition. When your branding effectively communicates who you are and what you believe in, you set yourself apart automatically.
PBG encourages the executives and entrepreneurs they work with to celebrate themselves and to spotlight who they are. Positioning these founders as people making changes in their spaces through mission and purpose is an essential part of how PBG builds brands for their clients.
Lydia shares that NOW is always the best time to approach a new market. Don’t box yourself up with limiting beliefs – the more you can grow into new spaces and diversify, the better. When your clients can see themselves in your team and brand story, you give them something they can connect with and share with you. Having sensitivity for diverse backgrounds will create a better brand experience that will resonate with your audience.
Effective branding is all about creating a journey for your brand and creating the story, narrative, and impact around it.
