Steve, thank you so much for joining us.

Steve (00:01:19) - Thank you so much for having me. I'm honored.

Josh (00:01:21) - Yeah. Well, give us an overview of the work you do, who you serve and and kind of your impact in the world.

Steve (00:01:27) - Sure. Well, I serve high achievers that are kind of butting up against that next level of success and have kind of married themselves to a story that this is as good as it gets, and they're not able to make the next breakthrough for some odd reason. Typically, typically some they're caught on some path that they have this, you know, these limiting beliefs. And I know that's a buzz phrase, but it proves to be true. People just convince themselves that, they've kind of reached their pinnacle. And I'm living proof that if you keep pushing through the glass, it breaks. but it takes perseverance. And I love helping people to get to new heights.

Josh (00:02:07) - Well. And I think, you know, given where we are right now. So, you know, we're talking about, you know, folks that might be in their professional career and they may be looking for or you're talking about someone that might be, you know, in a profession.

Josh (00:02:19) - And they've dabbled with the idea of maybe becoming a consultant, you know, kind of working independently. Or do you work primarily with people? No, no, no, they already crossed that Rubicon a long time ago. Where are they on their journey? Typically.

Steve (00:02:31) - They're at all different variations of their journey. They're just, you know, they're they could be burnt out. That could be somebody, that could be a lawyer that's grown his firm and and thinks he's reached, you know, the top. Or it could be a solopreneur that is just, you know, putting so much time and energy. And I really I work around this dichotomy where people allow their life to be part of their business instead of their business to be part of their life. And I try to flip that paradigm over and have people work on them, and then mysteriously, things just explode. It seems that when you let your life be part of your business, you neglect life, and you don't have the the energy, the wherewithal, the wisdom to conquer, to keep growing.

Steve (00:03:18) - So again, I try to help people shift their paradigm, work on themselves, condition themselves physically, mentally and spiritually to be able to grow. And then their business thrives. It's it's it's an interesting phenomenon.

Josh (00:03:32) - Yeah, yeah. And I and it looks like you work with a lot of folks that might be, a little bit more senior in their space. You're not working with a lot of 20 year olds.

Steve (00:03:43) - I have worked, believe it or not. I do like working with young people. They are way more open to change than older people and way easier to convert. It seems like young people are going to change a lot more than in my generation, where you thought you came out of school, you were going to get into a career and kind of ride it out forever. Now you're going to now when you're young, you're going to change multiple times, but I find myself working with people, typically at later stages of their career, that don't know how to monetize their wisdom. I use the word wisdom, you know, at our initial as we started out this conversation, and they don't understand that wisdom is probably worth a lot more than, what you're learning in business school these days.

Steve (00:04:30) - You know, one is theory and the other one is is true life experience. And I'll go with life experience.

Josh (00:04:37) - Tell me why that's valuable to a leader that is, you know, so, for example, if I let's say I've been in banking my whole life and I've built up a network, I've seen a lot of stuff over my decades of work, how can I present that or package that wisdom in a way that might be very compelling to me as, say, a solopreneur or a consultant or, you know, someone that's doing some work in that regard?

Steve (00:05:03) - Sure. I think, you know, I like to use this this the whiteboard here. As a matter of fact, I'm a I'm a former trader, so I'm a student of the markets. And the markets go up and down, up and down, up and down very infrequently. Does a market or a stock move linear? It's got to go up and down to reach its destination. And kind of life and business works the same way.

Steve (00:05:26) - And all those downs represent times of turbulence in somebody's life or their career. And if somebody actually took the time to analyze their own personal journey, they understand how many times they've solved problems or solved like crisis dilemmas that have allowed them to keep persevering along the way. And until you draw it out and really study it, you take it for granted. And I think that moving forward, when you analyze your life of your business and you see that, you know, there's a lot of noise along the way in how you've maneuvered your way through it. That's very powerful as you're breaking through to new levels, understanding that you've done it before over and over. And I think people neglect the fact that. We're problem solvers along the way. I mean, we fell before we were able to walk. You know, when we walk before we were able to run. And if we look back at our journeys, we probably have a lot of bumps and bruises along the way that we don't take credit for. And I think when you learn how to capture that and understand your own story, it becomes like a really powerful tool for moving forward.

Josh (00:06:34) - Looking at the content that you share in LinkedIn and your website. I do see you talking about this concept of reinvention, and I can't help thinking about, let's say, someone that might be in their 50s and 60s, and they're realizing that their ladder is just currently up against the wall. That's just they're unhappy, they're dissatisfied, and they're wondering if there might be a better or different opportunity for them. However, the idea of reinventing themselves is is almost demoralizing, right? Like I'm in my 50s. I shouldn't be doing this at this age. Do you have some insights to share on this topic?

Steve (00:07:14) - Yeah, well, I've done it three times, so. And you're right, the first time it is demoralizing and you start to second guess yourself. But you know, the thing that I always say is the beautiful thing about life is we don't get to see the script, so we don't know how it plays out. Right. And maybe life is just set up for you to take on new challenges instead of thinking of a challenge as a roadblock, you know? And that's that's how I train and coach people along the way.

Steve (00:07:43) - Right? I like to create the alternative road. If you're stuck on the road of misery, stress, overwhelm, you have the choice to ride it out for the rest of your game. but if you really look at a lot of the things that have gotten you from point A to point, maybe our rest along your journey, you could create the alternative road, the unknown road. But sometimes the pain of what we do know is not as fierce as the pain of what we don't know. But my job is to create that alternative for you, to help you cut through the the BS in your story and say, now that we understand that there is an alternative road, do you want to jump on it and go for the gold that might be there at the end? Because we already know you've been on this current road for X amount of years, and you hate it to begin with. So the choice is yours and it is frightening. Especially, you know, if you're still raising a family or you know, you've got bills to pay, you've got to pay, presumably.

Steve (00:08:44) - But listen, the story of the super successful is, you know, they're the risk takers and you can always sit back and stay on the miserable road. So.

Josh (00:08:55) - Yeah. And so when, Steve, when you're working with someone, what does that usually look like? Right. So if someone might be in this situation, we're like, I am I am contemplating making some changes. And that stresses me out because here I am doing this. And you know, I'm 58 years old and I feel like I should have been doing this when I was in my 30s. It's just too risky. You know, I you know, I've got, you know, I've got some money set aside, but, you know, not enough to retire. And so I need to somehow, you know, over the next ten years or whatever, I got to make sure I've got a enough passive, you know, ongoing money, you know, just like those sorts of things. How would someone know that they might be a good fit for you?

Steve (00:09:34) - Oh, well, it's somebody that's up for a challenge, right? I have a phrase that I use and it goes like this to get where others can't.

Steve (00:09:41) - You have to do what others want, right? And those are the people that are meant to work with me or get invited into the Hour of Champions program. If the first thing somebody says to me is, I can't, I want to challenge them and understand why. And if I can open up their mind to jump on that other road that I described, they're invited, you know, if, if, if they're adamant about they can't, then enjoy life, enjoy enjoy the road that you're on. Ride it out. Get to where you think is the end game. but you might waste ten good years of your life being miserable. And I will tell you that I. I came out of school and I was very fortunate. I became a commodity trader, but I was very successful at a young age, very, very successful. And when I was 25 years old, all I wanted to do was get to be 65 years old, to know that I won the game, and now I'm four weeks from 65 years old.

Steve (00:10:39) - And I can tell you unequivocally there's no game and there never has been a game, right? It's going for it. Sliding into home plate at the end. That's my the way I live my life. And that's the personality of the person that I want to work with. And if you don't want to slide into home at the end, there's plenty of other people out there to take you right down your miserable journey and keep you on it, you know? And it's a shame to me.

Josh (00:11:06) - Yeah. So, Stephen, your website is our of champions.com. Do you have resources or you know someone that's listening to a conversation that they might say, oh, I want to learn more. I'm, I'm interested in kind of exploring this. You know, they might be like I said, might already be independent, might be a consultant, and they're looking for a little bit more. They're unsettled about something. Maybe they are looking to make a major change.

Steve (00:11:32) - Yeah, well, for sure you can on the site.

Steve (00:11:34) - You could book a call with me. You can feel free to reach out to me personally with a direct message on Facebook or on LinkedIn, or you're more than welcome to join my Facebook Community Hour of Champions, where there are several thousand people that are engaging with each other. I'm sharing content and little bits and pieces of my wisdom. I like to think my wisdom of my journey to, you know, help push people along.
