You are a podcast host yourself. your podcast is spirit, purpose, and energy.

Josh (00:01:17) - And you are an empowerment strategist. JJ, thank you for joining us.

JJ (00:01:23) - Thanks, Josh. Looking forward to our conversation. Yes.

Josh (00:01:25) - Well, give us a just a an overview of your impact in the world today.

JJ (00:01:30) - My impact in the world today. Well, as discussed previously before hitting record. This will be my ten years in podcasting this September. September 14th to be exact. I started my podcast to save my marriage, but that wasn't the only reason I started my podcast to find out to market test how the world wanted me to show up because I had so much content and so much information. I was a personal trainer. I was dealing with psychology and what you have to do as a personal trainer to deal with psychology. But I was teaching a lot of things to my clients, but I wasn't really sure where to put all my information. Blogging was definitely not going to be my forte, because my brain and my mouth work way faster than my fingers, so writing felt like putting a needle in my eye.

JJ (00:02:12) - And I do have three books. I've written three books. But but blogging on a regular basis did not. It wasn't cathartic. It wasn't good. I didn't like it. It's not natural. And so for me, with natural for me is talking. So I thought when I heard about podcasting and sort of the idea of it, I thought, oh, well, that's what I'm going to do, because I can put all my content there and I can just sort of test out what people really want from me. And so I use my podcast. At the time, it was fit to love, How to Get Spiritually. Well, that's my book. The book, the podcast came out of the book, and then I did a six day a week show. Monday and Tuesdays were always a three camera HD video shoot. And so that because they were classes like a exercise class and a cooking class and then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday were a combination of interviews and solo shows on different topics.

JJ (00:02:59) - But every topic, every day had a theme. And, and but of course, I didn't know what I didn't know. I wasn't a podcast listener before I became a podcaster. And I didn't know that putting all of that content under one umbrella was not going to give me good metrics. So it took me about 350 episodes and 18 months to realize, oh, maybe I should separate these and do six new shows instead of one big show. And then that really was where everything sort of blossomed for me, and I could really put out the information and the specificity of each show into the world and let people pick what they wanted to hear and what they expected to hear. And then that just sort of took off and spirit purpose energy became the clear winner of this is how the universe wants you to show up in the world.

Josh (00:03:41) - Yeah. And so today, your work, do you mind maybe sharing, like, who you serve, who you work with? You know, obviously you you've also launched a, you know, a podcast network.

Josh (00:03:51) - But yeah. Tell me more about your your engagement opportunities.

JJ (00:03:55) - spiritual truth seekers, basically people who are looking for answers to having a better life in all ways. Empowerment strategist is a term I created because anyone in any it doesn't matter what the subject matter is. The empowerment piece is the emotional piece. It's the right brain. We all have that. In fact, I don't care how long you've been in business, every choice you make is because of how you want to feel. So it's the result that you want to have is going to influence your emotions, influence how you are in the world and your body. So everyone's looking to feel better. Everybody on some level, or you're looking to maintain a good feeling that you already have. So the empowerment piece is about getting out of victim mentality, or out of the blocks, or the things that get in your way, and that could be, again, in relationships, health, business doesn't matter. And then the strategist piece is the left brain piece because you still need to do something about it.

JJ (00:04:42) - So you can in order to get to that good feeling place or whatever that is for you. And to become unstuck, you still need a plan and a strategy to live in a different way, or to think in a different way, or to be in a different way. So you can't do, you know, our whole brain people, so we can't just be one. So it's not just about attending to our emotions necessarily, but it's also not just being in action. There are too many business owners that are in action based on anxiety and fear, and that's not going to get you the results that you want, which is probably peace and freedom. So again, looking at so I serve truth seekers and they come from all walks of life. I've got housewives, I've got business owners, I've got couples I've got, you know, men on the pursuit of, you know, coming out of different kinds of addiction recovery programs who don't feel good and think, well, I've been in recovery 20 years.

JJ (00:05:30) - Why am I not happy? And so it really just spans everybody. I mean, again, but people that are looking, people that are looking, not the people aren't looking. I only saw the true seekers who are looking for something more because they know that what they're doing isn't working.

Josh (00:05:44) - Yeah. you know, and it's interesting. JJ so I was I've been thinking a lot about this lately, about how we attract, you know, folks that, that we want to do business with. And, you know, and I love the analogy of, you know, if your goal is to attract a bunch of butterflies. Well, one possibility is you could just grab a net, a tool, a tactic, run up and down your street and try to find and catch butterflies. You could do that every single day. And that's an option. Or the other option, which I'm seeing. This seems to be what you do, right, is just plant a butterfly garden. Right? And so in your case, this is your voice, your podcast, your platform.

Josh (00:06:24) - And you're you're just kind of speaking truth. And then the right people are like, I like that. I resonate with that. And then they want to come and spend more time with you. Tell me about, you know, how the podcast, especially thinking about in the early days, how that served as your own personal butterfly garden?

JJ (00:06:42) - Well, the client that I had as a personal trainer didn't care about the emotional piece as much, even though they'd been with me ten years. And they they kind of thought I was cute and funny and, and over time, I got them to sort of understand and then go, oh my gosh, my back pain is emotional. It's not physical. But that took like eight years with one client, right? Because they were not they weren't using my gifts. They were just I mean, I was a very good personal trainer in terms of the science and the application of everything from biochemistry to biomechanics. But but I again, I said it's only 25% of my gifts, which is why I had to do the podcast.

JJ (00:07:10) - It was an act of self-love. It was an act of self-respect to say, I need an outlet for what I'm learning and living in my life and wanting to share with others, but I don't have an audience for this. So when I did the show, that's why I had six days a week, because I had the exercise piece from from the physical side, and then I had the exercise in and sort of wellness piece from just the informational side. And then I had psychology, then I had relationships, and I gave myself Fridays. It was called Freedom Fridays, and I gave myself Fridays as my guilty pleasure. And my guilty pleasure was the spiritual stuff. It was law of attraction, it was quantum physics. It was whatever the heck I want to talk about that I thought was intuition meditation. It was everything under the spiritual sort of sciences of quantum physics and epigenetics. And, and I felt like I earned that because I was giving good content on the other days of the week. But then when I put it out into the world just as its own podcast, that is when I attracted all the butterflies because the people were looking for that and Underfit to love.

JJ (00:08:08) - They didn't know that. That's what I was talking about. That brand wasn't clear for the spiritual truth seekers who were looking to learn about Law of Attraction, and I was definitely an early person doing Law of Attraction. There's a million Law of Attraction podcast now, but anytime you type in the Law of attraction or spirituality, I came up one or third for a very long time in Apple Podcast Search Engine, so I and I reaped the benefits of that because I got a lot of people who then would listen and resonate, and it became the best business tool. That's why I have a network, because podcasting to me is the best business tool, because then you are allowing people to come to you. They're listening to podcasts, they resonate or they don't, and you don't have to look at them in the eye and get rejected. You have to do some big, massive email campaign and hope that you keep the people that you put on your email list because, you know, because email was never going to be a way for me to build a relationship again.

JJ (00:08:56) - It's that resonance. It's that vibration, that frequency, that emotion, that energy that people are listening for. So yeah, it was a total game changer. It changed everything about how I did business. And and I love it, of course, because it's easier. And in fact, I don't even work with people that don't listen to my show. I did a podcast mastermind with my partner who's a podcast producer. He has a podcast production company, and the first year we did the podcast mastermind, it was fun at first to be able to work just specifically with podcasters on business. But where I got stuck was the blocks that they had was not their marketing tool, their funnels, their ads. It was them. And so. So I was like, okay, if I'm going to do this again in the future, which I will, it has to be both. I mean, that's how I use my own business. My own masterminds come out of my show. But in the podcast world, I'm like, no, you're the block, you're your own core wounds or the block.

JJ (00:09:43) - And if we don't deal with that, then you can try every trick in the book, but you're not going to get what you want out of your business. So I think that's where my specialty has become. In rewiring Corwin patterns, I've created something called a core wound map, and we all have them. So why not learn and grow yourself so that you can grow your business and your relationship and your health?

Josh (00:10:02) - let me ask you this. let's see, someone is really intrigued by the results or outcomes that can become with a focus on concepts like Law of attraction, but they say, you know, I'm going to be very frank with you. I'm open to it, but I'm just not a super spiritual person. And, you know, sometimes when I hear, you know, things that are woo woo, it just doesn't really resonate with me. But I really am interested in, you know, what is the evidence show is there anyway? Like, how would you entertain that conversation? Well, that's.

JJ (00:10:31) - Why I've been successful is because while I am woo woo, I'm not super woo meaning like I, I, I am I.

Josh (00:10:38) - I love that, I am woo woo, but I'm not super woo.

JJ (00:10:41) - But because I present educationally, I present strategically, I present, I teach linearly so I can speak to those questions and I can mechanize, if you will, physics, because that's what Law of Attraction is. It's physics. You don't question it when it's your radio or your TV. You know that when you click on Netflix, that's how you're going to get the show that you want to get. So frequency law of attraction is based on frequency and like and when you want a specific kind of frequency, it lives at a specific decibel or at a specific point. So but nobody questions that alignment of that frequency when it's in a device. But yet we don't realize that we're emanating a frequency all day long. It's called our emotions. And and so when you understand the physics because that's what Law of Attraction is.

JJ (00:11:24) - But it's quantum physics. And again I don't need to sell anybody on. It's happening all day long. I can just show. I can show you based on your results. I can show you based on what you're attracting. And I can even tell you what you probably believe, whether it be in your conscious mind or your subconscious mind, based on what you attract. I don't have to. I don't have to prove law of Attraction anybody. But if I can get you to do a few things that make you feel better, and you start to see the evidence of more things coming in, I don't need to sell you. You'll just see it.

Josh (00:11:51) - You know, kind of strikes me like meditation, my opinion. It's like my experience with meditation. I don't know that I necessarily love it during meditating, but I can't argue with the fact that afterwards I feel a lot better. So it's it's like even though my conscious brain or, you know, is kind of resisting it, you know, the benefits outweigh my skepticism.

Josh (00:12:14) - So therefore just do it.

JJ (00:12:18) - Yeah. And again and even we can like put Law of Attraction aside because I'm sure one who understands any bit of psychology can understand that we all walk into this world with core wounds from 0 to 7. Your brain is is literally recording everything that happens with your caregivers. It's not a choice. You're not being an observer and deciding this is how you feel. You're literally recording things as fact. And they're and these are the beliefs that create your entire reality. Everything that you do, every choice that you've made, every partner that you've had, every job that you've had, has been to try to get the things that you did not get in your childhood. And but most of us don't know what they are, but they run our lives. And so that bottom line, we can just start there and start cleaning up some of that. And then you'll start to see things happen. And whether it's Law of Attraction or not, it's it's becoming into a more empowered place of understanding why you have the patterns that you have, why you end up in the same relationships and the same arguments in the same financial situation.

JJ (00:13:09) - It just gives a reason for why you can't break this pattern, because it isn't some trick outside of you. I promise it's inside of you.

Josh (00:13:17) - Yeah. so let's share just a bit, JJ, about, who should be engaging with you, like, what does that look like? and tell me and, you know, along with that, if you maybe just tell me a little bit about your network, and I don't know if there's opportunity there or do you help or advise or like, how does someone join your network? Just all of the above. Where do we go from here?

JJ (00:13:39) - Well, my podcast is free. That would be the first place to start. And, I mean, if you go to my website jj.com, there are three sort of signature classes and they're free also. And the first one is three reasons why I talk. Therapy's ineffective. The second is how emotions affect healing and disease. And the third is the three fastest ways to make money podcasting. So we we stuck a business one in there.

JJ (00:13:59) - So depending on what your interest level is, if it's if it's business, I will tell you that I only work with people in business in two ways. Either you're part of my community and you join my mastermind, or you can be a part of my community or not. And you do a VIP day. That's it. I don't do regular sessions or I do live events, but they're based on, again, healing the person. They're not on business strategies. The business strategies come to me with people when we understand your zone of genius and we understand your blocks and we understand your goals, when those three things are in alignment, then we can start working on all the parts and pieces that you want to do to get to your financial goal. I am not the trainer or the coach or the person who believes in that. You focus on money at the detriment of your health and relationships. They're all in alignment and but but so many people, when it comes to business coaching or business stuff, want to talk about the money, the money, the money, the money, the money.

JJ (00:14:48) - I'm like, but that's not. And some people will focus on the money, the money money at the expense of their health and relationships. And that is not how I work. It has to be all in because you have to think about why. Because we can make choices about what we do in business to make money with something that we hate, that goes against everything we want to do in the world, and that isn't it either. It's about being in alignment and being in your zone of genius. So. So for the business stuff, I would say it's either, you know, you could listen to the show, you could do the podcasting. Three fastest ways to make money podcasting. Listen to the show. I do have a live event coming up in October. I do offer the mastermind starting at that live event. But but it's a it's a no like and trust thing. It has to you have to listen to the show. You have to know, like and trust me before you get to me.

JJ (00:15:28) - I'm not here to convince anybody to work with me on anyway. If you resonate, if you feel inspired, if you feel hopeful, if you feel like you've found an answer, cool. Reach out. I do a few things, but again, digital sales.com is the place to start. So because you whether free podcast or free class, because I don't want anybody, I doubt anybody in 15 minutes of listening to me right now is going to be like, oh my God, I have to work with this person. I'm going to pay her whatever she wants. Like we need to, like, get to know each other a little bit.

Josh (00:15:58) - Your website is JJ Phil zanes.com fi. Oh, you're right, you're right, you're right. Phil, I see my eyes and the tiny letters and it's easy to transpose that Ellen that I JJ listeners.com would the best thing for our friend that listener to do just click on the show notes. We have a direct link JJ to your website. Of course you know there's your podcast as well, spirit, purpose and energy, which if you're already in a podcast app right now, just search for spirit Purpose Energy with JJ listens and it's going to come up.

Josh (00:16:35) - JJ what do you talk about on that podcast?

JJ (00:16:37) - Well, honestly I run five shows and here's here's some business advice for you podcaster. So when I took my six day a week show and decided to make five different shows, or because I left one out, it's really about the brand. So there so the episode, the most recent episode that I had out will appear on five different podcasts. Why? Because I have a podcast that's black with white and red. It's called women, Men and Relationships. And that's where the men go, because the men look at spirit, purpose and energy and they go, oh, it's pink. That's not for me. Unless you're gay. No, no judgment. Or you're a, you know, or your metrosexual and you're like, pink doesn't bother me. I like pink, but generally the men like to go to women. Men in relationships or some of the men will go to, nutrition and alternative medicine or maybe health and wealth. Okay. So those are some of the pot.

JJ (00:17:21) - And then there's Fit to Love, which was where I started. But these are the brands that have the same content on them. Now in the most recent couple of years, if you go way back, Fit to Love has all of them and they all don't because I when I repurposed them, I just took those days of the week and put them there. But the one I saw, they were all kind of working. I thought, well, why would I not just publish this episode on all of them? So those five.

Josh (00:17:41) - Shows. That's fascinating.

JJ (00:17:43) - Right? Because because who comes to it? It's like it's that first initial look of the of the show, the artwork, the colors, the name that attracts the person. But I'll tell you, y'all end up it's birth purpose and energy. So you may start at Fit to Love or women, men and relationships or health and wealth or nutrition alternative medicine. But you end up it's very purpose energy because that's the flagship show anyway. But it has the same content, so really doesn't matter.

JJ (00:18:07) - Pick one. Whatever one works for you, don't don't try to force it. If the pink bothers you, pick a different color. Pick the orange one, pick the black one, pick the blue one I don't care.

Josh (00:18:15) - Yeah, I. Like it. It's, you know, again, if you're if you're looking for shelf space and in this case you're looking for shelf space in a directory, people are going to be looking, you know, it's and it's kind of like, I mean, we see this a lot in, in, you know, people people want things that are customized to them when in fact, the principles, you know, are quite common. You know, these universal spiritual principles. You know, we could change the window dressing a little bit, but when it comes down to it's pretty much the same message. I actually, I think that's quite brilliant. to, to repurpose that into different quote unquote audiences based on the look and feel and brand about it. And the intro outro.

Josh (00:18:51) - That's very, very clever. Like. And the funny.

JJ (00:18:54) - Thing is, you know, when you think, because I have, let's say I have lower numbers on some of those other shows, but I'll get someone who joins my membership and I'll say, oh, where did you come from? Oh, I am, I listen, health and wealth. I'm like, what? Like that show has the least amount of numbers, but why would I pull it down when it brings me clients?

Speaker 4 (00:19:07) - Yeah, yeah.

Josh (00:19:08) - I love it. JJ listens again. You're an empowerment strategist. you are the again founder of the Empowering Minds Network, your primary podcast of of course, there's many you can find, spirit, purpose and energy.
