A website audit is a complete analysis of all the factors that determine your site's visibility in search engines. This includes indexed pages, page errors, site speed, among other factors.
The website audit is completed solely for marketing purposes. The goal is to detect weak points in campaigns that affect web performance. The website audit starts from a general analysis of a website aimed at revealing the actions needed to improve search engine optimization (SEO).
According to Brett Napoli, founder and CEO of Ambition Insight, having a web developer take a look at an existing website can help you see flaws that you may have overlooked.
“You get that first impression that someone (who’s never seen it before) would get,” Napoli said.
Napoli said he has seen a lot of great websites, but they’re not functional in a way that makes sense to the end-user.
“The way that the content is written or the way that things are sold is sometimes backward,” Napoli said.
He said that when auditing a website, he tries to make sure that the business’ message is clear, direct and doesn’t include any fluff. Focus on the users, not on the business and how you want the website to look, he said.
