Have you ever scrolled through your newsfeed and noticed ads by people who say they got rich, and they want to share it with you? Who even are these people? Right now, we’re seeing a crash around this concept that anyone can be an expert. In 2019, authority is going to be an important currency for anyone who wants to establish themselves as an expert.
Authority is made up of a few different components. The first being social proof. The more followers you have on social media, the more credible you’re going to appear. Don’t worry if you don’t have a big following – everyone starts at zero. By posting consistently, following best practices and learning from experts – you can grow your following!
The next component is success – are you truly an expert? You can no longer be an expert at being an expert. You have to earn people’s respect. If you’re giving value, if you can teach and talk at length and engage a crowd, then you’re on the right track.
Finally, authority is also made up of associations. Use your network to build your authority. Get on podcasts, get in the media and meet people. You never know who someone can introduce you to.
