0:42
Thanks for having me. I'm excited to be here.
0:45
So Karissa, what are the services that you primarily provide your clients? We have a lot of we've had several guests on that are social media agency owners. We have a lot of listeners who are in the agency world. Well, so there's some familiarity here, but where do you specialize?
1:07
So we specialize in a lot of small businesses. They're usually the ones that need the most help. And of course, yeah, have- have someone in-house typically. So we're able to come in and kind of give them a holistic view of their entire online presence versus it just being, you know, one piece of the puzzle.
1:27
And how, has- I mean, as an agency, how long have you been in business as-as an agency owner?
1:32
So we've been in business for six years, and right now it's myself and my husband, and we're about to bring in a third person to- to kind of help with our increase our growth, so very exciting.
1:45
Yeah. And so talk about what you do as an agency to attract clients.
1:50
So as an agency, we've worked really hard especially I would say this year to provide a lot of value upfront, a lot of free content. A lot of advice not just for social media, but also kind of business advice to have, you know, are you looking again at that bird's eye view of 5000-foot view of your entire online presence? Are you really looking at your reports and your results and using those as part of your strategy? So just giving as much information and value upfront as possible is it's kind of attraction marketing for us.
2:28
Yeah. So you know, again, I think the analogy that it's often shared is the, you know, kind of taking more of a farming approaches as opposed to a hunting and gathering approach. You know, hunting and gathering You know, that's going to get you your clients for today. But you're going to be in your kind of be stuck in that hamster wheel. You know, you can get some word of mouth, you can you know, your results will kind of speak for yourself, but it's a lot of work. Now, once you have spent some time really building out your online presence, then things get a little easier. So what would be kind of your big claim to fame in terms of demonstrating your authority online.
3:05
I mean, I think we're really strong in video right now, I post on any given platform almost every day, a new video with a specific topic. So I try to keep them close to two minutes, you know, short and sweet, but enough, you know, party information that's valuable for people. And I also try to talk about things that a lot of other agencies or other companies aren't talking about. So that, you know, again, anyone is going to get good content from that, but especially the business owner or the agency owner of like, hey, maybe I need to bring this up with my clients. Or maybe we really need to explain this a little bit more in-depth. Because you know, you're building that trust relationship by being upfront and honest with them, even you know, just on a social media post.
3:56
So one of the services you provide we are such huge Proponents of this is I'm using LinkedIn for lead generation or for just speed networking. And can you kind of explain, Karissa, what is the untapped potential, particularly for agency owners that want to attract business using LinkedIn?
4:17
Um, it is just to the moon and back I think you have. You have unlimited potential and LinkedIn and you're almost if you're able to really lock in, put good content out and put time into it every single day, the rewards are going to pay you back tenfold and least that's what we've experienced. And we've also you know, we've experimented with several things. Again, we do video, we do statistics, we put out a lot of good content there. But we also personally reach out through messaging. You know, we use AI to some extent and LinkedIn and we're really we're not putting all of our eggs in that matter. It but that is one of our biggest baskets right now because we're able to stand out on that platform more than others. Because not everyone fully understands LinkedIn yet. But there's a lot of eyeballs going into that network every day.
5:14
Yeah, no kidding. And especially like, Listen, if if you want to grow business, that's what people are on LinkedIn to do. I mean, they're, you know, they want to grow professionally. It's just a different environment. You know, yeah, yeah, absolutely. Especially if you're a b2c company. You know, you can find great clients on other social media platforms. But talk about specifically, what is your activity that you do on LinkedIn? And- and also, what are some examples of some times that you've built some business or you've gotten new clients or you've, you've had something positive happen to your business as a result of your activity on LinkedIn.
5:55
I mean, I'll give you an example just from this week. So again, we're working to gain more connections, but also connect and you can network through LinkedIn, I think people forget that you can have conversations with people on LinkedIn. You can ask them about, you know what's important to them and kind of learn a little bit more, how do I refer you to someone that I know. And by doing that on a daily basis, even if you only spend 10 or 15 minutes a day just trying to message people and connect with them. I've had, I've sent out for proposals for new business this week, just from LinkedIn. I'm really trying to build those relationships there and make the apps that's something that even as an agency, we forget that you still have to have a call to action, you still have to tell people what you have to offer. And LinkedIn is the perfect place to do that because they're their business owners, or they own you know, private practice. They're busy, they want you to get you they kind of want you to get to the point. Now, so by using that messaging tool accurately, you can really make those contacts quicker and make the Ask faster as well.
7:03
What would it what kind of asked do you normally provide or give?
7:08
I asked for a 15-minute phone call to say, Hey, I own you know, a small social media agency. You know, we're here to help businesses just like you. You have time for a quick 15-minute phone call, I'd love to discuss your online presence. It's very simple. But I'm also calling them I'm only going to take up a small portion of your time. I don't want an hour-long call with you. Unless it turns into that, that would be great. I value your time. Let's take 10-15 minutes to get to know each other better and see how we can help each other.
7:42
How do you think that?, you know, you've been a digital agency owner for quite some time, as it always been social media.
7:50
Um, yeah, it's the heart of it's always been social media. Um, I am. I'm a borderline millennial. I don't claim it 100% I mean, 5050 but, um, so I've been an early adopter. Yeah, me and Mark z have been, you know, we were in school at the same time college. So I was one of the first people on Facebook, I was one of the first people on MySpace and I was kind of my generation grew up with that. And so, because of my love of it, that's just always been the center. And once again, where a lot of business owners struggle to understand how big of a toolset it is and how much potential there is,
8:28
you know, what do you see yourself? How do you see yourself as a social media agency? owner? What do you do that's a little bit different than most social media agencies?
8:43
Um, I kind of I put on my business owner hat when I speak with anyone. Again, I like to call it kind of a holistic approach to their entire business. So I'm not just looking at, you know, what's your social media strategy, what's the content we're putting out? Who's your perfect Client if you could clone your perfect client who would that be? If you could, you know, tell the world anything about your practice, but you know what makes you different in your business. So we're looking at kind of, again, more attraction marketing and more of a holistic approach to the business. Because everybody says I want more leads, but you can get them more leads. They're the wrong kind and you're still not going to work for them. So really just kind of honing in on the bigger picture for them and what that looks like.
9:30
Hmm, okay, cool. And so one thing I noticed that on your website, it seems as though you- your product used services. Why? Why do you? Why did you choose to do that as opposed to say, well, we're just going to give you a cost? Everyone gets a really custom proposal and I don't know what- what's your opinion?
9:53
Well, first of all, I'm a creative person. So I'm really bad at keeping track of contracts and You know, all these different numbers and I, again, I feel like being honest and upfront is really important these days. I still customize things for people. We still have private conversations. But my, I mean, I have a flat rate because I know how much time and energy I'm going to put in. I know what it takes. We've done this for long enough. I want people to feel confident knowing Hey, I'm going to get the same bill every month. I can budget for that. There's not going to be any surprises.
10:27
